The Young Marines is for youth between the ages of 8 and 18. A 7 year old may join if he or she will turn 8 before the first day of boot camp.
Absolutely! Females have been a part of the Young Marines since 1975.
No. The program is designed for youth who are in good standing at home and at school. This does not mean that your child has to be perfect, but we do not look for children who do not want to be in the program or have a criminal record. Most of our Young Marines joined to develop their leadership and discipline skills.
Each cycle consists of 2 drills per month over a 4 month period. As of now there will be no drills over summer break unless we have more interest. Keep up with "Calendar" page for any changes or additions to drill frequency or contact Unit Commander.
Yes, but you will not be able to become a Young Marine until you have succesfully completed boot camp, and a boot camp will not begin until there are a few more kids enlisted. There will be a integration period prior to the beginning of boot camp. A parent orientation must be attended before boot camp. Orientation dates are posted in the "Calendar" page.
Drill is every Saturday from 0900 (9:00 am) to 1400 (2:00 pm) for around 8 weeks. Meeting place to be determined.
You must attend the first and last day of boot camp. Other than that, you may only have 1 excused absences during drill cycle. Any additional absences will result in the recruit being dropped from training and not being able to graduate and become a Young Marine.
